Liverpool have extensively scouted Victor Osimhen during the international break as Jurgen Klopp eyes the 24-year-old as a strong target.

According to The Sun, Liverpool are set to intensify their efforts to pursue Victor Osimhen as their next attacking target in January. The Reds have scouted the 24-year-old league-winning striker during the international break, although they face tough competition from domestic rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.

Premier League clubs are increasing the pressure on Napoli as links to Victor Osimhen refuse to go away. With the problems brewing internally with the 24-year-old, interested clubs are growing in confidence about a move in January.

Among those are Premier League trio Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. Each of those clubs are keen on bringing in a prolific frontman to improve their sides, with the Blues stepping up their efforts since the infamous incident between Osimhen and Napoli’s social media team.

The striker was left unimpressed and even pondered taking legal action over a TikTok video posted by the social media team. Moreover, there are tensions between the 24-year-old and coach Rudi Garcia, with the latter counting his days at the helm.

Napoli have found themselves in a tricky position with Osimhen, considering the league-winning striker’s deal ends in 2025. Hence, the January transfer window is the perfect time to get big value from a sale, with the Serie A giants reportedly demanding over £140 million for their star man.

Premier League sides are alert to the possibility, particularly Liverpool. Klopp fears Saudi Arabian clubs might re-enter the market for Mohamed Salah in January and would want someone to replace the Egyptian’s goals in the side.

While Osimhen does not play wide, he sure does bring a lot of strikes. Recently Italian journalist Salvatore Biazzo ruled out Liverpool’s chances. But the Reds have surprised a few with their strength in the market.

Liverpool hold a strong interest in Osimhen and had sent scouts to watch the striker in action during the international break. Nigeria were playing their games against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique in Portugal, and those observers have had a thorough time watching the forward.

Chelsea have also shown an interest in Osimhen, and they are by far the most desperate team keen on adding a centre-forward. They will surely angle for a move for one in January, but whether that is Osimhen remains the question.

Arsenal, too, could ponder making a move for a striker, as they lack a profile like Osimhen. His price tag will prove problematic for the Gunners. They are also keen on Ivan Toney but would seriously consider a move for the Napoli star if he becomes available.
