Chelsea are all set to reignite their interest in the services of the 27-year-old Inter Milan full-back Denzel Dumfries.
According to a report by Calciomercatoweb, Chelsea are still keen on having Denzel Dumfries in their ranks. The Blues were interested in acquiring his services during the summer transfer window. But, they couldn’t strike a deal with Inter Milan. However, they remain interested in him and could return for his services in the winter.
After a successful stint at PSV Eindhoven, Dumfries joined Inter Milan in the summer of 2021. The Dutch international has since gone from strength to strength. He has featured in a total of 105 games for the Italian club and has also contributed towards 26 goals.
The 27-year-old has been a consistent performer for the club over the years. In the ongoing season, he has featured in nine matches and has contributed towards five goals. While he has been featuring as a right midfielder for the Italian club of late, the Dutch wing-back is capable enough to feature as a full-back in a back four.

His versatility along with his exceptional form has attracted a lot of attention. Chelsea are one of the clubs who have been interested in the 27-year-old for a while now. And, they seemed to be determined to sign him during the winter transfer window.
The Blues were very close to acquiring his services in the summer but failed to get it over the line. However, they seem all set to return for him in January. Dumfries still has well over 18 months left on his deal and Inter would love to keep him at the club until the end of the season.
But, they could initiate a sale if they receive the right price. The Italian club do not have the best financial situation. Despite that, they are planning to sign a few players in the winter. As a result, they will have to offload someone to raise funds and Dumfries could be the one given the amount of interest in him.
The Blues might have Reece James as their preferred choice on the right flank but he has been subject to quite a few injuries of late. As a result, acquiring the services of the Dutch international can surely help their cause.
