27-year-old Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is open to the idea of joining either of Newcastle United or West Ham United.

According to a report by Football Insider, Newcastle United and West Ham United are both keen on having Kalvin Phillips in their ranks. The 27-year-old’s future at Manchester City is uncertain and he is open to the idea of joining either of the two clubs in 2024.

After helping Leeds United gain promotion to the Premier League and becoming the mainstay of the team, Phillips parted ways with the club in the summer of 2022. He joined Manchester City in a deal worth £45 million. The 27-year-old penned down a six-year deal with the English giants.

He was expected to slowly establish himself as the first-team regular under Pep Guardiola. But, things haven’t gone according to plan. He got limited game time last season and was not really happy with the situation.

But, rather than pushing for a move away from the club in the summer, the former Leeds United midfielder wanted to fight for his spot. While he tried his best, it hasn’t been good enough and the 27-year-old has only featured in five games so far and has racked up just 167 minutes of football.

The England international could finally give up and decide to move on from the club in the winter transfer window. According to the report, City would look to recoup their investment in the midfielder. And, there is interest in his services from West Ham United and Newcastle United.

The Hammers sold Declan Rice to Arsenal in the summer in what was a big money move. While they did make signings post that, they haven’t signed an out-and-out replacement. And, Phillips is someone who could fill the void left by their former skipper. While there is a bit of difference in their playing styles, Phillips is exceptional with the defensive side of things.

Meanwhile, the Magpies are also keen on having him in their ranks. They have been doing some great business in the transfer market over the past few windows and it seems to be another great opportunity for them. Eddie Howe would love to have another world-class midfielder in his ranks given the number of competitions they are a part of. And, someone like Phillips will surely bolster their squad.

While the player was determined to fight for a spot in the starting XI, he now seems open to the idea of leaving the club. And, it has come off the back of the fact that he hasn’t started even in the absence of Rodri. Both the Hammers and the Magpies have European football to offer and the former Leeds United winger is expected to seriously consider his options before making a decision.

We don’t need him at West Ham, we’ve got much better players in his position. Newcastle are welcome to him being injured non stop & never playing anyway. I don’t know where you get your info from but it’s total bollocks!! COYI ⚒️ ⚒️ ⚒️ ⚒️
