West Ham United are ready to offer Lucas Paqueta a new £200,000-a-week deal amid interest from Newcastle United and Manchester City.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, West Ham United are looking to offer Lucas Paqueta a new bumper contract that will increase his wages significantly to £200,000. The 26-year-old has been in sensational form over the past 18 months, and there is a lot of interest in his services from Newcastle United and Manchester City. As a result, the Hammers want to tie him down to a new contract.

Paqueta joined West Ham United last summer, and he has gone from strength to strength since making the move. The 26-year-old has been absolutely sensational in his very first season for the club and has carried his form into the 2023/24 season. So far he has featured in 10 matches and has racked up close to 900 minutes. The attacking midfielder has also contributed towards three goals.

His impressive performances have attracted a lot of attention. Newcastle United and Manchester City are two clubs keen on having him in their ranks. City wanted to sign him ahead of the ongoing season. They even submitted a bid for his services in the summer.

According to reports, the player had agreed to a move to the Etihad. But, unfortunately, the move couldn’t go through. City dropped their interest because the player was subject to an investigation by the FA over potential betting breaches.

Pep Guardiola’s team might have signed Matheus Nunes in the summer. But they still remain interested in the 26-year-old. Meanwhile, Newcastle United have also joined the race for his signatures. The Magpies have done some exceptional business in the transfer window of late, and they are looking to bring in another world-class midfielder next summer.

The Tyneside outfit feel Paqueta has all the qualities needed to help them take the next step and challenge for major titles. With Manchester City and Newcastle United interested, West Ham are keen on penning down a new deal with their star midfielder.

They have already extended the stay of Jarrod Bowen and are now focused on Paqueta. His current deal runs until the summer of 2027 with an option to extend it by another 12 months. The years left on his deal are not a concern for the Hammers.

They are focused on increasing his wages and his release clause. West Ham are looking to increase his wages from £150,000 per week to over £200,000 per week. And, they will also look to re-negotiate his £85 million release clause.

While the Hammers are trying their best to keep him at the club and are willing to offer him a bumper new deal, the player wants to join a bigger club in the near future. As a result, it will be interesting to see if he is open to the idea of a new deal.
