Paris Saint-Germain will reportedly compete with Real Madrid in the race to sign Alphonso Davies from Bundesliga club Bayern Munich.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Alphonso Davies is the subject of interest from Paris Saint-Germain. The 22-year-old is also a target for Real Madrid. But the Ligue 1 champions are keen on beating their bitter rivals to the signature of the Bayern Munich full-back.
Alphonso Davies has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Bundesliga since joining Bayern Munich from Vancouver Whitecaps in January 2019. Interestingly, the Canadian international was a winger when he arrived at the Allianz Arena. But Hansi Flick converted him into a left-back, and he has not looked back since then.
The 22-year-old has been a mainstay at the back for Bayern Munich in the last four and a half years. Davies has turned out 164 times thus far for the Bundesliga champions, chipping in with eight goals and 28 assists. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
Davies has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time. And the Spanish giants are contemplating securing the services of the young wide man in the 2024 summer transfer window. Recent reports have claimed that Real Madrid will happily break the bank to land the player next year.
While Fran Garcia has been decent since rejoining Real Madrid from Rayo Vallecano, he does not inspire much confidence. In addition, Ferland Mendy faces an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu, with a summer exit likely. Davies is thus a viable target for Real Madrid. But Los Blancos will face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain for his signature.
At PSG, Luis Enrique has two left-backs at his disposal — Juan Bernat and Nuno Mendes. But Bernat’s long-term PSG future is uncertain, thus necessitating the need for a left-back. Alphonso Davies has thus emerged as a viable target for the reigning Ligue 1 champions.
But while PSG will look to push Real Madrid for Davies’s signature, they might have an uphill task to land him. Recent reports have claimed that the 22-year-old has his heart set on joining Real Madrid. So, it will be interesting to see if PSG can do anything to turn his head next summer.
