Chelsea have added Evan Ferguson to their list of top-draw strikers for next season, which includes some stellar names.
According to Fichajes, Evan Ferguson has emerged as a top-rated target for Chelsea ahead of the next summer window. The Blues are keen to add a new centre-forward for their long-term future and could attempt to sign Brighton & Hove Albion’s 18-year-old striker.
Evan Ferguson has continued to grow in stature among the elites, and some have already predicted a big move for the 18-year-old Premier League striker next summer. A host of clubs are keen to take the young forward away from Brighton, but it won’t happen that easily.
Brighton have protected themselves from unwanted approaches by recognising his talent early and tying him down on a long-term contract. The extension came about at the end of last season, as Ferguson developed into one of the most exciting youngsters in the Premier League under Roberto De Zerbi.
The Italian boss does not seem bothered by outside talk and continues to hold faith in the club about retaining the striker. De Zerbi has not overused the 18-year-old striker in his setup, instead relying on timely rotation with his other forward options.
Real Madrid are already considering a move for the young forward, although he is not their priority target, as it may appear. A move abroad would seem exciting for the youngster, but there are a host of Premier League giants also keen to secure his signature.
Chelsea are among those and by far the only big club lacking in the striker department. The Blues have spent heavily in the last three windows yet have not managed to sign a new centre-forward. As baffling as it appears, they are keen on adding a solid No.9 to their ranks.
Ivan Toney remains linked with a January move, but Victor Osimhen appears like their priority target. However, signing the Nigerian is no easy feat for any Premier League side, as he will cost a huge fee. Similarly, Brighton could also demand significant money to sell Ferguson.
Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez also emerged as a target as Chelsea drew up a considerable list for next summer. The owners of the club want to keep the long-term future in mind and add to their existing squad of young professionals.
Hence, signing Ferguson makes plenty of sense for Chelsea, who can continue to build a young core of players for the long-term future. They certainly have the funds to make an exciting offer to Brighton’s liking. But the Seagulls are under no real pressure to accept below their valuation, which might break some records in English football for teenage stars.
