Saudi Pro League clubs keen on Thiago Silva

Saudi Pro League clubs are interested in acquiring the services of 39-year-old Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva next summer.

According to a report by Fichajes, Saudi Arabian clubs are keen on having Thiago Silva in their ranks. Saudi Pro League outfits signed some of the biggest names in world football ahead of the 2023/24 season and are now planning to add a few more stars to their league next summer.

Ever since Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr earlier in the year, and a lot has changed in the Middle East. While they did not add any more stars in the winter window, the Saudi Pro League signed some of the biggest names in the summer.

They added Neymar, Sadio Mane and Karim Benzema among others while the transfer window was still open. The Middle Eastern clubs already have quite a few star players in their league but they have no intentions of stopping them. They want to add more stars to their ranks and will push for some of the biggest footballers in Europe.

While they are interested in the services of Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne, signing either of them won’t be easy. But, there are a few other players that Saudi clubs could target, and Thiago Silva is one of them.

The 39-year-old centre-back is still putting impressive shifts in the heart of the defence for Chelsea. He has been one of the mainstays of the Blues’ first team since joining them back in 2020 and even helped them win the UEFA Champions League.

But, his time at the West London club might end next summer. He is already 39, and his contract runs out next summer. While he is an important part of their first team, they might not offer him a new deal. They have quite a few young central defenders who will be expected to take over from the veteran in the 2024/25 season.

Silva is linked with a move back to Brazil, but things could change if a Saudi Pro League club puts forward a lucrative deal. There is interest from the Middle East in bringing the veteran defender to Saudi Arabia and given their financial capabilities Silva could be tempted to try a new adventure.
