Barcelona and Manchester City are keen on Xavi Simons next summer, but Paris Saint-Germain will block any exit for the 20-year-old.

According to 90 Min, Manchester City and Barcelona are among the top teams interested in signing Xavi Simons next summer. But, Paris Saint-Germain have no intention to send the 20-year-old Bundesliga attacker star away, as they plan their future with the Dutchman.

Paris Saint-Germain made a surprising move to re-sign Xavi Simons in the summer, and it’s by far the bargain deal of the window. The Ligue 1 giants exercised a buy-back clause in his PSV contract and convinced the 20-year-old of the project they were building in Paris.

Simons joined RB Leipzig on loan immediately after completing his PSG move, but that decision has already paid dividends. Three goals and four assists in six games show how magnificent his form has been, and PSG would like him to continue on that route.

While he continues to shine on loan at Leipzig, clubs are showing an interest in signing him ahead of the next season. Manchester United have already seen links to the 20-year-old Bundesliga attacker, but now Manchester City and Barcelona emerge as top contenders.

Manchester City are looking for a young attacker to add next summer, with links to Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz. However, they could also look at Simons as a potential option, considering the other two will prove very costly.

Considering his current form, PSG can demand a huge fee for the 20-year-old Bundesliga attacker. Yet, they remain uninterested in selling Simons in 2024. The Parisians have earmarked the Dutchman to have a big career here and will count on him from next season.

In any case, Barcelona would have been an exciting option for Simons if the interest had any legs. The Catalans are enduring a tough period with their finances. Hence, they could struggle to find a solution to sign the 20-year-old Bundesliga attacker.

Even Manchester City will find it difficult to convince PSG, although they have a Bernardo Silva named trump card. The Parisians like the Portuguese playmaker but are unlikely to trade Simons for him.

As things stand, Simons already has a huge value, and the small fee PSG paid seems like a snippet. Hence, there’s no chance for the 20-year-old Bundesliga attacker will leave so soon, as he will look forward to playing a big role at the club for years to come.
