Liverpool are interested in acquiring the services of Pedro Neto, a target for Arsenal, as they prepare for life without Mohamed Salah.
According to a report by Football Transfers, Liverpool are interested in having Pedro Neto in their ranks. The 23-year-old winger has been on fire in the ongoing season and the Reds are looking at him as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Neto struggled throughout last season because of injuries and could only have just over 1,000 minutes of football under his belt. However, he has managed to bounce back and is in red hot form this season. He has featured in seven Premier League games and has managed to contribute towards five goals.
His performances have not gone unnoticed and there is a lot of interest in the services of the Portugal international. The 23-year-old who is a client of Jorge Mendes and has been on Liverpool’s radar for some time. And, on the back of his recent form, they are willing to push for his services.
But, the Merseyside club are not really happy with Wolves’ valuation for Neto. They even fear that the asking price might increase by another £20 million when and if Salah ends up leaving. Liverpool did manage to hold on to Salah despite the interest of Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad. The Reds turned down an initial offer of £150 million and managed to see out the deadline day.
But, they fear the return of the Saudi Arabian club. As a result, they have started preparing for life without the Egypt international. And, Neto is one of their targets to replace the 31-year-old winger. While Liverpool consider him to be a possible Salah replacement, they are not the only ones interested in his signatures. Even Arsenal are keen on having the 23-year-old in their ranks.
The Gunners have been following for a long time now. They even tried to sign him in the summer and are expected to return for his services in the winter. But, according to the report by Football Insider, a deal in the winter transfer window is unlikely.
Wolves will not let Neto leave the club in the January transfer window irrespective of the kind of offer Arsenal put forward. As a result, Arsenal and Liverpool will most likely battle it out for Neto’s signatures next summer.
