La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid are closely monitoring the progress of in-form Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Victor Boniface is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Merengues have several targets at Bayer Leverkusen, including the club’s manager Xabi Alonso. And they are monitoring the situation and progress of Boniface and two other players.
Victor Boniface spent most of his formative years in his homeland before turning professional at Real Sapphire. His first break in Europe came with Bodo/Glimt, where he spent three years before arriving at Union Saint-Gilloise in August 2022. And the Nigerian striker enjoyed an excellent debut season at the Belgian club.
But Boniface’s time at Union Saint-Gilloise lasted just one season as he moved to the Bundesliga this past summer. Bayer Leverkusen secured his services in a deal worth just over €20 million. And the 22-year-old has been bang for the buck thus far at BayArena, already contributing to 11 goals in eight appearances.
The in-form striker has a superb tally of eight goals and three assists in eight outings thus far at Bayer Leverkusen. Boniface’s progress at the Bundesliga club has not gone unnoticed, with several high-profile clubs interested in him. Recent reports have linked him with Manchester City. And the youngster has also emerged as a target for Real Madrid.
The Merengues are scouring the market for a striker ahead of the 2024 summer transfer window. Real Madrid will prioritise signing Kylian Mbappe in a Bosman move next year. But there are brewing concerns that the French international will sign a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain instead of moving to Real Madrid.
Several strikers have thus emerged on Real Madrid’s radar, with Boniface also being a viable target. Meanwhile, the Spanish giants also have other Bayer Leverkusen players on their radar, including Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz. In addition, they want to appoint Xabi Alonso as their next manager.
So, it will not be surprising to see Real Madrid raiding Bayer Leverkusen for multiple figures next year. And it will be interesting to see if Boniface’s time at the Bundesliga club ends in the 2024 summer transfer window.
