Chelsea are keen to add Brighton & Hove Albion’s 21-year-old winger Simon Adingra, who has impressed scouts who have watched him this season.

According to Football Insider, Chelsea are interested in signing Simon Adingra from Brighton & Hove Albion in January. The West London club’s scouts have watched the 21-year-old winger in action this season. And he has impressed them with his application in games. But Brighton are unlikely to lose the promising star so soon.

Chelsea spent over €400 million during the summer transfer window, but results on the pitch remain unchanged. It has been nearly a year that the club have made it to the top half of the table, as they continued their struggles from last season onto the current one.

Despite spending massive funds on new attackers in the last three windows, Chelsea feels like they do not have the right option. So far, Mauricio Pochettino has failed to identify his preferred front three as his attackers continue to struggle.

Raheem Sterling could continue to hold his place in the starting lineup. Similarly, Nicolas Jackson might keep playing due to a lack of striker options. Chelsea will enter the January market looking for a new No.9, with Victor Osimhen one of their targets.

So far, their wide attackers have not performed as expected, and Pochettino might explore new ideas through the market. They are now linked with Brighton’s 21-year-old winger Simon Adingra, who has become one of the exciting new talents under Roberto De Zerbi.

Adingra joined the Seagulls in the summer of 2022 but immediately went on loan to Union SG. Over in Belgium, the 21-year-old winger had a wonderful season, scoring 15 goals and adding another 15 assists in all competitions.

He returned to Brighton with a big reputation after a stellar season, and De Zerbi chose to include him in the first-team plans. The 21-year-old immediately rewarded the faith of his manager by scoring on his Premier League debut against Luton Town.

Chelsea scouts watched him during Brighton’s games against Manchester United and Aston Villa. The 21-year-old winger has left a lasting impression on those observers. It may have convinced the Blues to consider making a move in January.

Amid Chelsea’s interest, Brighton will have all the power in the world to negotiate a deal on their terms if they want to let the attacker go. The Blues have done some important dealings with the Seagulls over the last two seasons. Mosies Caicedo’s move in the summer was their biggest piece of business yet.

Chelsea will be prepared for a similar stubborn approach from Brighton when it comes to their other players. Adingra could improve Chelsea’s wide areas and replace the unwanted Noni Madueke in Pochettino’s setup.
