Arsenal are ready to advance in their efforts to renew Ben White’s deal at the club, with the £50 million utility man considered key.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are stepping up their efforts to renew Ben White’s contract. The £50 million utility man is a vital member of Mikel Arteta’s side, and he remains next in line for a lucrative new deal.

Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar have ensured there’s an optimal structure on and off the pitch for the concerted progress of the club. Together, the duo have had stellar transfer windows as both have fulfilled their respective roles to great success.

Not only have Arsenal recruited well, but they have also managed their important players well. While they continue to strengthen their squad step by step, Edu, in particular, has also focused on contract renewals. Since the summer of 2022, they have renewed the contracts of several first-team stars.

Those included Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba, thus ensuring they spend their best years at Arsenal. In between, Gabriel Magalhaes, Aaron Ramsdale and Eddie Nketiah also renewed their contracts.

Very recently, skipper Martin Odegaard signed fresh terms that made him the club’s highest earner. Ben White was always considered the next in line for renewal as Arsenal planned on opening talks with the £50 million utility man and his representatives.

Some reports claimed they are already closing in on a renewal with the defender, but now Fabrizio Romano states they are ready to step up. As things stand, Ben White is one of Arteta’s most trusted players and has played with regularity in this Arsenal side.

A new contract will likely be around the 4-5 year mark while also improving his salary in line with his stature in the squad. Ben White has predominantly played as a right-back since the start of last season despite being a central defender by trade.

Renewing the 24-year-old’s deal will boost the mood around the Emirates, as the Englishman is already a fan favourite in north London. After his renewal, Arsenal could open talks with Oleksandr Zinchenko, as the Ukranian deserves a new deal as well.

With Ben White’s new contract and potentially even Zinchenko, Arsenal would have retained most of the players in need of an extension. With that, they could improve the squad through the transfer market and keep adding to their already stellar-looking team.
