PSG retain Bernardo Silva interest

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keen on signing Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva, valued at £50 million.

A report from French publication Le10Sport claims that PSG remain keen on signing Bernardo Silva, who has a release clause worth £50 million in his Manchester City contract.

Silva has been linked with a move away from the Premier League club in recent seasons, with clubs like Barcelona keen on securing his services. The 29-year-old midfielder is certainly one of the best in the league, and he could prove to be an excellent acquisition for PSG.

The French outfit would certainly improve by signing someone like him who will add creativity, control and technical ability in the final third. The Manchester City midfielder can operate as a winger, central midfielder, a central attacking midfielder as well.

His versatility makes him a valuable asset for any club, and he has proven himself at the highest level with Manchester City. The Portuguese international has helped Manchester City win every single trophy at club level, and he is undoubtedly a legend for the Premier League club.

Selling him would certainly weaken Manchester City, and it remains to be seen whether the Premier League giants are ready to execute the operation. But the presence of a £50 million release clause takes matters out of Manchester City’s hands.

PSG are one of the wealthiest clubs in the world, and they certainly have the financial resources to sign the player. It will be interesting to see if Silva is willing to return to France in the near future. He has already shown his quality in Ligue 1 with AS Monaco in the past. He might be open to trying out a new challenge at this stage of his career and moving to Spain or Italy might be more appealing for him right now.

Meanwhile, it is fair to assume that Manchester City will not let the player leave midway through the season. They will look to compete for the league title and the UEFA Champions League this season. They cannot afford to weaken the squad in January. So, PSG will have to wait until the summer transfer window if they are truly interested in signing the Portuguese midfielder.

Bernardo Silva is still very much at the peak of his powers and he could be a key player for PSG in the coming seasons if he joined them. It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can negotiate a reasonable price at the end of the season.
