Arsenal have reportedly been linked with a move for 29-year-old Argentine international midfielder Guido Rodriguez.

Guido Rodriguez has been a key player for club and country over the past year. And the World Cup winner is thought to be on Mikel Arteta’s radar as Arsenal look to improve their midfield department. As per Fichajes, the player could cost below €50 million, and it remains to be seen whether Arsenal can get the deal done.

Arsenal need to add more quality and composure in the middle of the park. Players like Mohamed Elneny, Thomas Partey and Jorginho will need replacing if Arsenal are serious about competing for trophies every season. They need technically-gifted players who can control the tempo of the game and help them dominate midfield contests.

They have been linked with players like Martin Zubimendi as well. Both La Liga-based midfielders are on Arsenal’s radar, and it will be interesting to see who they end up signing eventually. Rodriguez will certainly be a cheaper acquisition because of his age, and it could prove to be a value-for-money addition as well.

The 29-year-old has already proven himself in La Liga, and he has the technical attributes to thrive in the Premier League as well. The opportunity to join a club like Arsenal will be a tempting proposition for the Argentine international, and he could look to take the next step in his career with the move to north London.

The World Cup winner will want to win major trophies at the club level as well, and Arsenal could certainly provide him with the platform to do so. The Gunners have an impressive squad at their disposal and they are expected to compete for league titles.

Rodriguez will fancy his chances of winning silverware with a move to the north London club. The reported asking price of less than €50 million is certainly affordable for a club with Arsenal’s resources. So, it remains to be seen whether they come forward with a concrete proposal to sign the midfielder.

Rodriguez has a contract with Real Betis until the summer of 2024, and the Spanish club will be under pressure to cash in on him during the January transfer window. They will not want to lose him as a free agent, and he could be available for a nominal price because of his contract situation. Arsenal must take advantage of the situation and snap him up on a bargain.
