Bayern Munich are keen on Antonio Rudiger, with Thomas Tuchel particularly interested in exploring a move for the Real Madrid mainstay.

According to Fichajes, Bayern Munich could explore a problematic move for Antonio Rudiger in January. Thomas Tuchel is particularly keen to add the 30-year-old Real Madrid mainstay to his squad in the next window as a potential replacement for Matthijs de Ligt.

Bayern Munich may have won their latest game against VFL Bochum by a staggering seven goals, but the squad has some persistent problems. The German giants have been leaky at the back, with Thomas Tuchel keen to explore a new option in the next window.

One player who has yet to prove his worth despite some much-publicised hype is Matthijs De Ligt. Since arriving last season in a big-money move from Juventus, the Dutchman has yet to cement his place, and their latest addition, Kim Min-Jae, has usurped his place in Bayern’s backline.

Bayern are reportedly open to selling De Ligt if they receive some reasonable offers for the defender, which may lead the club to chase another defender. For Tuchel, former Chelsea star and current Real Madrid mainstay Antonio Rudiger is a perfect choice.

Like De Ligt, Rudiger struggled during his debut season with Real Madrid, but now the 30-year-old mainstay has cemented his place in the team. Some inconsistent performances last term also saw the defender linked with a return to the Premier League around January, but now there is little chance of signing him.

Real Madrid, for their part, will not entertain any offer for Rudiger, let alone the €30 million bid that the report mentions Bayern are willing to pay for the defender since they have already lost Eder Militao to a season-ending knee injury.

Hence, there’s no chance the Spanish giants will accept any approaches for their 30-year-old mainstay, especially not from European rivals Bayern. Tuchel wanted a reunion with the star he coached during his Chelsea days.

Moreover, Rudiger seems content in Madrid and seems like he’s living a dream in the Spanish capital. With a contract until 2026, there’s no urgency on Rudiger’s part to seek a change of scenario, even if the opportunity would take him back to his homeland Germany.
