Crystal Palace to open contract talks with Eberechi Eze

Crystal Palace are set to open contract negotiations with Eberechi Eze

According to The Athletic, Crystal Palace are ready to kick start contract negotiations with first-team star Eberechi Eze as he continues to impress in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old arrived at Selhurst Park from Queens Park Rangers in 2020 and has steadily seen his star rise in London. Olise has since made 99 appearances for the Eagles, scoring 16 goals and assisting 13 more.

A versatile player, the Palace star can fulfil a variety of roles all across the pitch. Primarily an attacking midfielder, he can play anywhere along the middle of the park and also the frontline if needed. This makes Olise a much sought-after player in the modern game where interchangeability is the new niche.

With 24 months left on his current deal, Palace will need to secure their star man to a new deal. They cannot afford to lose him on the cheap, something that is bound to happen the longer his contract situation remains unaddressed.

Eze isn’t just an excellent footballer but also a fighter. He not only fought off an ACL injury to cement his spot in the Palace lineup but also earned his first stripes for the English senior side under Gareth Southgate.

At 25, his performance will only improve as he enters the prime of his career. It is a testament to his burgeoning reputation that Manchester City are eyeing him as a potential replacement for star playmaker Kevin de Bruyne. Pep Guardiola has managed some of the best players in history in his tenure and him looking at Eze certainly speaks volumes of the 25-year-old’s talents.

Palace recently agreed to fresh terms with Michael Olise, a player who appeared to be on his way to Chelsea. Securing Eze’s future will more or less give them two key players to build a winning squad around.

The Eagles have struggled for consistency this season and will need to up their game in the coming weeks. As long as Eze and Co stay fit, there is every chance that the Londoners can rise up the rankings and secure a respectable finish.
