Manchester City are reportedly keen on signing 25-year-old English international Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace this summer.

A report from Daily Telegraph claims that Manchester City are now preparing to sign Eberechi Eze. The 25-year-old England international accompanies Matheus Nunes as the midfield targets for the Premier League champions.

Eze is rated highly in the Premier League, and he has done quite well for the Eagles recently. He could prove to be a quality acquisition for the Premier League champions. Manchester City are also closing in on signing Jeremy Doku to add some pace and flair to their attack. And it seems that they are keen on signing the Crystal Palace midfielder now.

The Premier League champions sanctioned the departure of Riyad Mahrez earlier this summer, and they will have to replace the Algerian international adequately. Mahrez was a key player for Manchester City in recent seasons, and they need to replace his goalscoring output and his creativity.

Meanwhile, the interest in Eze likely stems from the inability to replace Ilkay Gundogan thus far. In addition, Kevin De Bruyne’s absence has left Pep Guardiola short of midfield options. It will be interesting to see if Crystal Palace are willing to sanction the departure of the 25-year-old midfielder before the summer transfer window closes.

They have already parted ways with Wilfried Zaha upon the expiry of his contract, and Michael Olise was heavily linked with a move away from the club as well, with Manchester City among his suitors. However, the 21-year-old Frenchman has decided to stay and sign a new deal with the club.

Eze is a key player for Crystal Palace as well, and his departure would weaken the South London club. Manchester City certainly have the finances to tempt the Premier League club into selling the 25-year-old, and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops.

Eze is likely to be tempted if a club like Manchester City come calling. The Premier League champions are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and they have a proven track record of competing for major trophies every season.

A move to Manchester City would accelerate his development and help him improve as a footballer. Furthermore, he would get to work with one of the best managers of all time in Pep Guardiola, who could play a key role in his development.

Crystal Palace might not want to sanction the departure of a key player this late in the window as they will find it difficult to secure a proper replacement. However, if Eze decides to force a move, the South London outfit could be under pressure.
