Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months.

GIovani Lo Celso was expected to leave Tottenham Hotspur permanently during the summer transfer window, but a move did not materialise. A report from Fichajes now claims that the Argentine midfielder is keen on a move to La Liga club Real Betis.

The 27-year-old playmaker has struggled for regular game time at Tottenham this season, and he needs to leave in order to play regularly. Lo Celso has played just 16 minutes in five league games this season, and a player of his quality deserves more opportunities.

The player was on loan at Villarreal last season, and he did reasonably well for the Spanish club. Real Betis have been keen on the midfielder for months. But they could not sign him because of Tottenham’s financial demands. It remains to be seen whether the North London outfit are prepared to sell him for a more reasonable price during the January transfer window.

The Argentine midfielder is keen on getting his career back on track after failing to make his €32 million move count. And a move back to La Liga would be ideal for all parties. Barcelona were keen on signing the Argentine midfielder in the summer transfer window as well. However, Lo Celso’s preference is clear, and he wants to join the team managed by Manuel Pellegrini.

The 27-year-old is versatile enough to operate in several attacking roles, and he will add goals and creativity to the side. Lo Celso has previously shown his quality in La Liga with Real Betis. He knows the club well and he should be able to settle in quickly and make an immediate impact during the second half of the season. The two clubs need to iron out an agreement now.

Initially, there were rumours that the Argentine midfielder has impressed Ange Postecoglou with his performances during pre-season and that the Australian manager viewed him as an important first-team player.

The lack of playing time in the first few matches of the season has put those rumours to bed. So, it will not be surprising if Tottenham decide to cut their losses on him during the winter transfer window.
