Giovani Lo Celso has been linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, with Barcelona keen on signing him.

According to Spanish journalist Javi Miguel, Barcelona are now prioritising a move for 27-year-old Argentine international Giovani Lo Celso. The player cost Tottenham around €32 million when they signed him permanently from Real Betis.

But interestingly, recent reports have claimed that Tottenham might look to hold on to him this summer. Meanwhile, Lo Celso has been linked with the return to Spain. He was on loan at Villarreal last season, and his former club Real Betis are thought to be keen on securing his services as well. In addition, the 27-year-old has also been linked with clubs like Napoli in recent weeks.

Barcelona could definitely use more quality and depth in the final third, and the Argentine international could prove to be a quality acquisition. He is versatile enough to operate in a number of attacking positions, and he could prove to be an asset for Xavi Hernandez.

Furthermore, he is likely to be available for a reasonable price because of his structure at Tottenham, if they decide to alter their stance. And Barcelona will anyway look to snap up bargains because of their financial situation.

The Catalan outfit are unlikely to be able to spend big money on signings this summer. So they will need to snap up bargains whenever possible. Lo Celso could prove to be a quality player for them in the coming seasons.

The opportunity to join a big club like Barcelona will be hard to turn down, and the Argentine international is likely to be tempted. There have been rumours that Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou could look to keep him at the club beyond this summer, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Lo Celso has not been able to adapt to Premier League football since moving to Tottenham in a €32 million deal. So it makes sense for him to move on and return to his comfort zone. The midfielder played his best football in Spain, and joining Barcelona would be ideal for him.

But the 27-year-old will hope for ample game time, and it remains to be seen whether Barcelona are ready to give him the assurances he needs. Nonetheless, the Blaugrana are prioritising signing him this summer.

As for Tottenham, they have already signed James Maddison as the central attacking midfielder this summer. So Lo Celso will likely struggle for regular game time if he stays at the club. It would be ideal for all parties to agree on a deal for the midfielder, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.
