Despite interest from Turkish clubs, 32-year-old midfielder Thiago Alcantara is keen on continuing at Liverpool.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Thiago Alcantara wants to stay at Liverpool for the 2023-24 season. The 32-year-old has no intentions of leaving the club despite interest from Turkish clubs Fenerbaçe & Trabzonspor.

While Liverpool were busy completing an overhaul in midfield, the future of Alcantara was never really in doubt. The 32-year-old was expected to continue at Merseyside club for at least another season.

Throughout the summer there was a lot of interest in services from all across the world but the former Bayern Munich star was keen on continuing under Jurgen Klopp. But, clubs from Turkey were not ready to give up, with their transfer window running until 15 September, they kept trying their luck.

Fenerbaçe & Trabzonspor are the two Turkish teams that wanted to land the 32-year-old at their club. And, according to Romano, a formal proposal was submitted for the services of the Spanish midfielder. However, Alcantara had no intention of parting ways with the Merseyside club.

The 32-year-old wants to be a part of Liverpool for the 2023-24 season and he has no intentions of moving to Turkey. Meanwhile, even the Reds are keen on having him in their ranks.

They might have signed quite a few players during the summer but they are still short on experience and don’t have the kind of depth they once had. As a result, the presence of the Spanish international is a must for the team.

Since joining the club back in 2020 from Bayern Munich, the 32-year-old has featured in a total of 97 matches and he has even contributed towards nine goals. While the Spanish international is yet to feature in a match this season, he is still an important part of Klopp’s plans moving ahead and will surely have a major role to play in big games.

Fenerbaçe & Trabzonspor were both looking to bolster their midfield by signing Alcantara but their efforts have gone in vain. The 32-year-old is expected to play out his contract at Liverpool which ends next summer.
