Trabzonspor table a €7.5 million-a-year deal for Thiago Alcantara ahead of the Turkish transfer deadline, but they do not want to pay a fee.

Trabzonspor have ambitions to sign Thiago Alcantara before the Turkish widow shuts but want to avoid paying a transfer fee, as per Takvim. The Super Lig side are ready to offer the 32-year-old Liverpool midfielder a three-year contract worth €7.5 million-a-season.

Thiago Alcantara remained a Liverpool player beyond the closures of the European and Saudi Arabia transfer windows. The 32-year-old Liverpool midfielder had attracted plenty of interest from clubs in different leagues but somehow managed to stay at Merseyside.

The 32-year-old’s contract with Liverpool expires next year, which could signal the end of his time at the club. Yet, Jurgen Klopp may see it wise to keep the Spaniard in his squad for at least the current campaign, as the Liverpool boss values Thiago’s experience.

Liverpool have already lost Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Pro League clubs and another set of midfielders on free transfers. Letting Thiago also depart to Turkey would leave them short of experienced professionals in the squad, as the other options are all relatively young and new to the team.

Trabzonspor have held an interest late into the Turkish window, which only shuts on Friday, September 15. Hence, there is every chance of the Super Lig side trying to lure the 32-year-old Liverpool midfielder to their club and strengthen their squad.

Thiago also had Al Alhi’s admiration last month alongside some teams in Spain. Yet, the midfielder, who remains sidelined with an injury, will have hoped to make a mark at Liverpool. However, the Premier League side have a late call to make on his situation, with the next 24 hours crucial to determine his future.

Trabzonspor are willing to offer a three-year contract with a salary of €7.5 million per season. It is an attractive proposition for the Spaniard, but with a shortage of time with the Turkish window, the Super Lig club will consider it their final push.

Thiago could hold talks with Liverpool to see if he fits into their plan for the coming season. If not, a move away would make sense, but Trabzonspor are unwilling to pay a fee. They are keen on applying a similar tactic that saw Arsenal terminate Nicolas Pepe’s contract to allow him a move to Trabzonspor for nothing.

Another Turkish outlet, Fantik, reported Trabzonspor are willing to pay the 32-year-old Liverpool midfielder a significant signing-on fee, but this proposal will be their last before the window shuts. The Reds may not sanction such a move, especially on those terms, considering they will value his experience this season more than giving him up for nothing.

While Trabzonspor remain optimistic about getting a deal done, the chances may seem slim now. Any decision will stay with Thiago about his immediate future, as the door to Turkey remains wide open.
