Premier League giants Arsenal are close to agreeing on a new deal with their 24-year-old club captain Martin Odegaard.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Martin Odegaard will soon pen down a new deal with Arsenal. The 24-year-old has been one of the most important players for Mikel Arteta’s team over the past few seasons and they are all set to secure his services beyond 2025 with a new deal.

Odegaard joined the Gunners back in the winter of 2021 from Real Madrid. He initially joined them on a short six-month loan deal. The 24-year-old managed to impress the people at the London club during his loan stint and they ended up making his move permanent in the summer of that year.

The former Los Blancos midfielder has gone from strength to strength since making the move to the English club. He has got more minutes on the pitch than he did at Real Madrid and with every passing game, he has gotten better. The 24-year-old’s impressive performances and leadership skills have earned him the captain’s armband.

He has featured in a total of 110 matches for the Gunners and has contributed towards 41 goals. As far as the new season is concerned, the Norwegian international has been involved in five matches and already has two goals to his name.

Because of his consistent performances, there are quite a few clubs interested in Odegaard’s services. With his contract running out in less than two years’ time, Arsenal are not really in total control.

But, they have no intentions of letting him leave, as a result, they have been in talks with his representatives over a new deal. According to reports, the Gunners are ready to offer him a new four-year deal that will see him earn much more than his current wage of £120,000-a-week.

The Gunners have had positive talks with the player’s representative and according to Romano, it is just a matter of time before the 24-year-old pens down a new deal with the London club.

Arsenal did some incredible business in the recently concluded transfer window and they have already secured the future of a few of their star players with new deals. The Gunners are now closing in on a new deal with their club captain.
