Barcelona might look to sign Osasuna playmaker Aimar Oroz, who has a release clause of €28 million, in the 2024 summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Aimar Oroz is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants are scouring the market for a creative midfielder heading into the 2024 summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Spanish playmaker has a release clause worth €28 million in his Osasuna contract.
Aimar Oroz is a native of Arazuri and began his youth career at San Juan. He then passed through the academy at Ikastola Sanduzelai before joining Osasuna in 2014. The 21-year-old has come leaps and bounds since then, establishing himself as one of the best young midfielders in Spain.
Meanwhile, Oroz has made his mark on the international stage with Spain’s Under-21 team. The Spanish playmaker made his first-team debut for Osasuna as an 18-year-old in July 2020. He has turned out nearly 50 times thus far for the club, chipping in with four goals and six assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has captured the attention of high-profile clubs like Barcelona.
The Catalan giants bolstered their midfield unit in the summer transfer window by signing Ilkay Gundogan and Oriol Romeu. But both players are on the wrong side of 30, meaning Barcelona will have to sign younger players for their positions soon. Several candidates, including Joao Palhinha, have thus emerged on Barcelona’s radar for Romeu’s profile.
But reports have not linked Barcelona with many creative midfielders. So, Aimar Oroz is a viable target for the reigning La Liga champions. And the Spanish playmaker is an affordable target for Barcelona, considering he has a release clause worth €28 million in his Osasuna contract.
However, if interest in Oroz escalates, Osasuna should open talks with his entourage over a new contract with a higher release clause. But the presence of the current condition makes him approachable for Barcelona, who can likely afford to pay €28 million to secure his services.
