RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko is reportedly a target for Real Madrid, with Los Blancos keeping tabs on his progress.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Benjamin Sesko is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. Pundits have compared the 20-year-old striker to Dutch legend Marco van Basten. And the Merengues have closely monitored his progress at the club and international levels.

Benjamin Sesko rose to prominence during his four-year stint with Red Bull Salzburg. The Slovenian international was not highly productive at the Austrian club. But his performances have compelled pundits and fans to project a high ceiling for him. Meanwhile, he joined Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig this past summer.

The move across the Red Bull family has helped with familiarity, enabling him to start the 2023/24 season strongly. And Sesko has managed two goals in three appearances thus far this term. In addition, the youngster has been in fine form on the international stage with Slovenia. And his progress has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid.

Recent reports have linked the highly-rated 20-year-old with clubs like Barcelona, Chelsea, and Manchester United. But a move to Real Madrid might be on the cards for the young prospect, with Los Blancos closely monitoring his progress for a long time.

Sesko has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a few years. And with pundits comparing him to Marco van Basten, he seems like an ideal fit in the Spanish club’s first-team squad. The increasing interest comes amid uncertainties surrounding Kylian Mbappe, who might sign a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

So Real Madrid might have to zero in on an alternative to the French international. And while strikers like Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland are on Real Madrid’s radar, Sesko is also an option worth considering. The 20-year-old might not have been as prolific as the Manchester City duo. But he has a high ceiling and should improve with better service at the Santiago Bernabeu.
