According to a report by Fichajes, Manchester United are keen on having Jeremie Frimpong in their ranks. The Red Devils have an ambitious project at hand under Erik ten Hag, and they are looking to add further stars to their arsenal by signing the 22-year-old from Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen.
Erik ten Hag took charge at Manchester United last summer and post that, a lot has changed at the club. They had a decent season last time out. The Red Devils won a trophy and managed to qualify for the Champions League.
Post that, they have had a blockbuster summer where they have signed some world-class players in Mason Mount, Andre Onana, Sofyan Amrabat and Rasmus Hojlund. On paper, they look like a solid outfit that could challenge for trophies.
According to the report, the Red Devils have already started planning for next summer. They want to make further signings to ensure they can return to their glory days. The Red Devils have their eyes on Bayer Leverkusen’s Frimpong.
The 22-year-old came through the ranks at Manchester City, but he failed to break into their first team. He joined Celtic in the summer of 2019 and managed to put in some impressive performances. On the back of his performances, Leverkusen decided to sign the Dutch international in the winter of 2021.
Post that, he has gone from strength to strength. Frimpong has so far featured in 99 matches for the German club and has contributed towards 36 goals. He has got off to an exceptional star in the 2023/24 season. The 22-year-old already has five goal contributions in four matches despite being a right-back.
While he plays in a wing-back role, the 22-year-old is equally good defensively. As a result, he could be a great fit for Erik ten Hag’s system. The Dutch manager would love to have him in his ranks.

It will bolster their defence and raise the level in that position. Frimpong will surely give Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka a tough fight for a place in the starting XI. With the player’s contract running out in 2025, it will be interesting to see if Bayer Leverkusen push for a renewal or look to cash in on him.
