Jorginho wants to stay at Arsenal and has rebuffed an offer from Turkish side Fenerbahce as Mikel Arteta considers the Italian a vital part.
According to 90 Min, Jorginho has no interest in leaving Arsenal ahead of the next few days as the Turkish and Saudi windows are still open for business. The Italian midfielder has reportedly turned down offers from SPL clubs and Turkish side Fenerbahce.
Arsenal’s transfer business concluded with no signings made on deadline day. The Gunners remained content with the four arrivals earlier in the window and managed to offload several of their unwanted stars to trim their bloated squad.
As the window ended, there were concerns about their depth in certain positions, especially in midfield and central defence. Additionally, Thomas Partey sustained a groind problem days before the Manchester United game at the Emirates, which would keep the Ghanaian out for a while.
As per varied reports, the midfielder could miss three to six weeks of action, while some concrete sources insist he will return only after the October international break. The signing of Declan Rice does offset his absence, but Mikel Arteta also has an essential backup in Jorginho.
With the Partey injury, Jorginho could have an important part to play in some crucial games against Everton and Tottenham after the current break. The midfielder arrived during the January window deadline day from Chelsea in a £12 million deal and played 16 times in the second half of last season.
For Arteta, Jorginho is an ideal player for Arsenal’s system and will continue to place importance on the Italian to shine when called upon. Since Rice’s arrival, some media outlets reported the Italian could look for a new club, but the Gunners did not want to sell the midfielder.
Fenerbahce had been linked in the last few days, and with the Turkish window still open, they may have made an offer in the background. As per the reports, Jorginho has rebuffed a proposal from the Turkish giants and a Saudi club as he wants to stay at Arsenal.
The Gunners will also not allow the key midfielder to leave at this stage, particularly with the Partey injury. With a long season ahead, Jorginho will have an important role to play and will have many games under his belt compared to his 18 minutes of action in the first four matches.
His experience and ability in Arteta’s system seem of utmost importance now. Hence, it would not make sense for the Gunners to entertain any offers, and now the player’s wish to remain here will prove crucial to shut down interest from the Turkish and Saudi sides once and for all.
