Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing 22-year-old Ivorian defender Odilon Kossounou from Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen.
A report from The Sun claims that Liverpool are keeping Odilon Kossounou on their watch-list after he failed to secure a move to West Ham United earlier this summer. The Ivory Coast international was linked to the move to the Premier League but the transfer did not materialise.
The 22-year-old is highly rated around Europe and he could choose to be a quality long-term addition.
Liverpool need to bring in defensive reinforcements especially with Joe Gomez and Joel Matip struggling to perform at a high level. Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk are the only reliable defenders at the club right now.
Liverpool must look to bring in more than one defender at the end of the season and Kossounou could prove to be a quality long-term addition. The 22-year-old has the potential to develop into a key player for Liverpool and someone like Jurgen Klopp could help him develop and fulfil his potential.
The report claims that the Ivory Coast international would jump at the chance of moving to Liverpool. The Reds are one of the biggest clubs in the world and it is no surprise that the defender is keen on the transfer.
