Manchester United have agreed on a deal to sign Jonny Evans until June 2024.
According to a statement on the club’s official website, Jonny Evans has signed a one-year contract with Manchester United. The multi-time Premier League winner will spend the 2023/24 season with the Red Devils.
Manchester United needed to bring in defensive reinforcements, and Evans should prove to be a quality addition. The former Leicester City defender has proven himself in the Premier League over the years, and he should be able to settle in quickly and make an immediate impact at Old Trafford.
The Manchester United academy graduate knows the club well and has won multiple Premier League titles with them. So, the opportunity to play for them will come as an exciting option for the player. Evans has previously made 198 first-team appearances for the Red Devils, winning three Premier League titles, two League Cups and the Champions League title with them.
Erik ten Hag currently has Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane as the only reliable options at the club and he needed to add more depth to the side. Harry Maguire has been linked with a summer exit, although he is set to stay at Old Trafford.

Evans will be an inexpensive addition, and he is a Premier League-proven player. The Red Devils could use his leadership qualities and experience this season. The 35-year-old might not be a regular starter for Manchester United. But he has the attributes to be an important squad player. And he has expressed his delight at completing the move.

Manchester United will be competing in the UEFA Champions League this season, and they will want to do well in the domestic competitions as well. Players like Evans could be invaluable options as he will allow ten Hag to rotate his squad and keep the players fresh.
