Trevoh Chalobah set for Chelsea stay

Trevoh Chalobah has seen his move to Bayern Munich break down after the German transfer window shut before the deal could go through.

Nizaar Kinsella has confirmed that the move to take Trevoh Chalobah to Bayern Munich has fallen through. There are several reasons for the breakdown in negotiations. But the most crucial factor is the closing of the German transfer window.

The links between Bayern Munich and Trevoh Chalobah has been going on for a few days. The Bavarians had been keen to bolster their side with another defender after the departure of Benjamin Pavard to Inter Milan. They probably saw the Chelsea man as a similar profile to the Frenchman.

Bayern had been formulating an offer to bring the Chelsea homegrown player on a loan deal and potentially include an option to buy. Chalobah has felt the need to play regularly and barely gets any minutes under Mauricio Pochettino.

Since the start of the window, Chelsea were open to the idea of selling the homegrown player if a sizeable offer arrived. While no club have come forward with a permanent solution, they have shown reluctance to settle for a loan move.

With Bayern in the mix, Chalobah wanted the move to Germany. However, with the transfer window in the country shutting at 5 PM BST, the move has now fallen through. Nizaar Kinsella has confirmed the same, as the defender looks set to stay at Chelsea.

There is also some interest from Nottingham Forest in the defender. But that will depend on the player choosing to join them against staying at Stamford Bridge. For now, Steve Cooper’s side have a chance. But as per reliable sources, the move is not moving forward at the moment.

Bayern may have faced a similar fate in their pursuit of Joao Palhinha. Fulham had allowed the Portuguese midfielder to travel to Germany for his medicals. But as things stand, sources have confirmed the deal has fallen through.

Similarly, they had also pursued Armel Bella-Kotchap of Southampton. And now, the defender also looks set to stay at St. Mary’s following the closure of the German window. Overall, it is a disappointing transfer deadline day for the Bavarians, who are also allowing Ryan Gravenberch to join Liverpool today.
