Nottingham Forest have confirmed the acquisition of 22-year-old Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi in a £3 million deal plus add-ons.

Nottingham Forest have made an official statement to confirm a deal for Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea on a permanent transfer. The 22-year-old forward will sign a three-year contract and hope to revive his faltering career under Steve Cooper.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has completed his protracted move away from Chelsea and now permanently joins Nottingham Forest. The Tricky Trees had set their sights on the forward in the last few weeks when it became clear they had a path towards the 22-year-old Chelsea forward.

Chelsea were eager to make the sale as Hudson-Odoi returned from an underwhelming time in Germany while on loan with Bayer Leverkusen. They had hoped to find a solution to his future, having entered the final year of his contract as a permanent transfer suiting all parties.

Fulham were keen on the 22-year-old Chelsea forward. But a move for the winger collapsed recently. Nottingham Forest may have seen a way to bring the attacker to their ranks but had to hold protracted negotiations with Chelsea to conclude the move.

They have signed Hudson-Odoi on a three-year contract and will pay Chelsea £3 million and another £5 million in add-ons. It is a solid coup for Forest, considering they are losing Brennan Johnson to Tottenham today, with the North Londoners paying £47.5 million for the Welsh attacker.

Upon signing for Nottingham Forest, Hudson-Odoi insisted he was at the right place in his career. He said, “It’s massive for me to be here, and I can’t wait to get started. It’s a new chapter for me. I know a couple of the boys already, which was a big thing for me, and I obviously know the manager well, so it’s nice to be here and see familiar faces around.”

“Forest is a big club which won two massive trophies in its history and I’m really excited to play at The City Ground. I know all about the atmosphere having watched a couple of times and I can’t wait to get playing in front of the Forest fans.”

Forest will likely conclude their window with this signing, although there are whispers about a potential deal for another Chelsea player in Trevoh Chalobah. The defender’s move to Bayern fell through after the window in Germany closed, although he will have to decide if he wants to join Forest or stay at Chelsea.
