Luton Town are reportedly locked in talks with Arsenal to take 23-year-old midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga on a season-long loan.

Football Insider has revealed Luton Town’s interest in taking Albert Sambi Lokonga on a loan deal from Arsenal. The Hatters are open to securing the 23-year-old midfielder and are locked in talks with the Gunners to find a breakthrough.

Luton Town will likely take advantage of the loan market to find a suitable player with decent experience to help the squad with the current season. Albert Sambi Lokonga has emerged on their shortlist at this stage of the window, as they hope to secure the Belgian on a loan deal.

Talks with Arsenal are underway to find a breakthrough, with the Gunners open to letting the 23-year-old midfielder leave before the transfer deadline. Lokonga had been unable to find a new club after Mikel Arteta considered him surplus to requirements at the Emirates.

There have been many clubs with links to the Belgian midfielder, including Burnley, managed by his former manager Vincent Kompany. All interested parties have vied for a loan move, and the Clarets eventually did not feel the need for the 23-year-old midfielder, especially after signing Sander Berge.

Brighton & Hove Albion were also linked with a move for Lokonga. But they have since signed Carlos Baleba from LOSC Lille on a permanent deal. Hence, Roberto De Zerbi does not need to chase the 23-year-old Arsenal midfielder.

Recently, reports stated that Lokonga got offered to Liverpool. But those were wide off the mark. The Reds have since finalised a move for Ryan Gravenberch, which leaves minimal choice for the Arsenal midfielder to ponder.

Luton Town have emerged as suitors as they hold talks with Arsenal to find an agreement to take Lokonga on a loan deal. The Belgian midfielder may have a starting spot for the experience he packs, and a dry loan to the Premier League new boys might help him revive his game.

There is still no answer from Lokonga about the move. With the prospects of playing regularly on his mind, he could reluctantly accept the conditions. Arsenal have been desperate to offload some unwanted stars, including Lokonga. They hope to find a breakthrough with Luton and send the Belgian to the Premier League new boys on a dry loan.
