AC Milan want Chelsea starlet Mason Burstow on loan

ACF Fiorentina vs AC Milan: Preview and Prediction.

AC Milan are interested in securing the services of Chelsea youngster Mason Burstow on loan for the rest of the season.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio on Twitter, Serie A giants AC Milan are eyeing a loan deal for Chelsea sensation Mason Burstow in the final hours of the 2023 summer transfer window.

The Rossoneri have already raided the Blues twice this season for Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Both players have started their stints at San Siro well and are following in the steps of Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud in making a name for themselves at the club.

Chelsea have signed several stars this summer and could yet be set for busy deadline day. Given their bloated squad, it makes sense for Mauricio Pochettino and co. to let some of their fringe players and youth prospects go out on loan. Burstow falls into the latter category.

Milan are still in the market for a striker and are eyeing Porto striker Mehdi Taremi. The Serie A giants have agreed a €15 million fee with FC Porto but personal terms are yet to be struck. While negotiations continue, Milan are preparing contingency plans should talks go awry. This has seen them take stock of Burstow’s situation ahead of a potential season long loan for the 20-year-old.

The youngster joined Chelsea from Charlton Athletic last year and is also attracting attention from Blackburn Rovers. While a move to the Championship should see him enjoy regular playtime, a move to Milan could be a career lesson in itself.

Having impressed for Chelsea’s development squad, Burstow was a part of Pochettino’s pre-season plans. The Argentine certainly rates the youngster but might not be in a position to see him feature regularly for the senior team.

Burstow earned his Chelsea debut in the 3-1 loss to West Ham United and also started the Carabao Cup clash vs Wimbledon. It was apparent that he needs further development and could do with a loan spell elsewhere. A lot will, however, depend on whether AC Milan fail to land Taremi. If that were to happen, we could see things move quickly for Burstow.
