Scott McTominay will not join Bayern Munich at the end of the window as the signs of a Manchester United stay are high.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Scott McTominay will not join Manchester United before the transfer deadline. The chances of the 26-year-old midfielder staying put at Manchester United seem high, even though the Bavarians were interested in bringing him as a replacement for Ryan Gravenberch.

There is a lot of transfer merry-go-round happening ahead of deadline day. Liverpool’s interest in Ryan Gravenberch may have opened the doors for Bayern Munich to look for a replacement option in the English market.

They have reportedly set sights on Liverpool target Joao Palhinha. But the Portuguese international’s huge asking price has been complicating matters. Gravenberch’s potential departure will open up space in their midfield, and Thomas Tuichel will want someone to fill the gap and add to the squad’s depth.

Bayern also held an interest in Scott McTominay, although that report suggested Gravenberch could move to Manchester United. The Red Devils have instead identified Sofyan Amrabat as their top target and remain in talks for the Fiorentina midfielder.

McTominay was widely expected to depart Old Trafford in this window, as he does not have a regular spot under Erik ten Hag. Manchester United even rejected an offer from West Ham United, which may have been due to their inability to find a replacement.

Now, Florian Plettenberg has suggested that the 26-year-old homegrown star will not join Bayern Munich at this stage of the window. The likelihood of McTominay staying at Manchester United is currently high, irrespective of whether they sign Amrabat or someone else in the position.

Bayern may have to target another player in the position, although the idea of Palhinha may happen. Eric Dier also got offered to them recently, and the experienced Tottenham man could still come into consideration if all other doors close on them.

Tuchel is not overly keen on Dier, but the 29-year-old can do a job for the team. Hence, the market for Bayern may still see some late movements in the midfielder area. As for McTominay, he no longer seems like an option and will likely remain at Old Trafford beyond tomorrow’s deadline.
