Petterson Novaes is on the cusp of joining Barcelona on a loan deal for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.
According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Petterson Novaes is the subject of interest from Barcelona. And the Catalan giants are close to completing a loan deal for the 19-year-old Brazilian attacking sensation. The Flamengo whizkid will join Barcelona Atletic, with the Blaugrana currently negotiating the value of the purchase option.
Petterson Novaes Reis, better known as Petterson, has spent his formative years thus far in his homeland. The teenage wonderkid has been with Flamengo since 2017 and subsequently rose through the ranks at the club before making his first-team debut as an 18-year-old in January 2022.
A centre-forward by trade, the Brazilian attacking sensation can also play on either flank. The 19-year-old has managed only 53 minutes of game time thus far for his club’s first team. But he has seven goals and one assist in 13 under-20 matches this term. Meanwhile, Petterson’s progress at Flamengo has not gone unnoticed, with Barcelona among his prospective suitors.
The Catalan giants are renowned for constantly scouring the global market for prodigious young prospects. Such an outlook has helped them secure the services of current first-team regulars like Pedri and Gavi. In addition, Vitor Roque will arrive from Athletico Paranaense in January after Barcelona agreed to a deal to sign him a few weeks ago.
Meanwhile, the Catalan giants continue to show interest in promising prospects, including Heriberto Jurado. Petterson Novaes has now emerged as a target for Barcelona, who will assign him to the reserve team. And the 19-year-old Brazilian attacking sensation will likely arrive at the club on a loan deal for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.
Barcelona and Flamengo are currently negotiating a purchase option for Petterson. And the Blaugrana will hope to secure a valuation of around €3-4 million to sign him in a permanent deal next year.
