Manchester United have been offered Marcos Alonso as a new left-back as the Red Devils continue to look for a new option after the Luke Shaw injury.

According to 90min, Marcos Alonso has been offered to Manchester United as a new left-back option. The versatile Barcelona defender is an experienced option for Erik Ten Hag to consider, although he could be the third or fourth choice compared to other targets.

Manchester United were rocked by the muscle injury suffered by Luke Shaw late last week. The left-back will now miss around six weeks of action, which will be a massive blow to Erik ten Hag’s plans. The Red Devils have not started the season brightly enough, and the absence of one of their most important players will prove disruptive.

In the aftermath, Manchester United were linked with many left-back options, including Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella. The Spaniard seems like their primary target if they want a long-term option. However, the Blues will be wary of such a deal that could see them strengthen a direct rival.

Cucurella will have a role under Mauricio Pochettino despite his current status as a bench player. Moreover, Ben Chilwell does not have a decent backup if the Spaniard departs. Similarly, Manchester United considered a move for Sergio Reguilon, with the out-of-favour Tottenham full-back becoming an exciting option.

Like Chelsea, Tottenham will not want to strengthen Manchester United by selling Reguilon, although he does not have a place in Ange Postecoglou’s squad. Hence, he could remain on the list, and they might consider him if other doors close.

Now, versatile Barcelona defender Marcos Alonso has been offered to Manchester United to get a deal for the Catalans. The Catalan giants still have cash problems and may consider an offer if it helps them financially.

Manchester United might see any potential deal for Alonso on the positive side due to the Spaniard’s massive experience at the top level. Whether they are realistically in the hunt for the full-back remains the question. But he could help the Red Devils in their current predicament.

For now, these are only rumours, as the media will continue to link many other left-backs between now and the end of the window. Ideally, signing Alonso might work in the short term. But if they aim for an option as a long-term option, then Cucurella might work out well.
