Nottingham Forest are close to finding an agreement with Chelsea for 22-year-old attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi.

According to Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth, Nottingham Forest are closing in on Callum Hudson-Odoi, as an agreement with Chelsea appears close. The 22-year-old attacker has no place in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans and are open to selling him with a year left on his deal.

Callum Hudson-Odoi continues to divide opinion among many fan bases. It’s quite a baffling situation the 22-year-old attacker has found himself in, considering Bayern Munich once offered a truckload of money to Chelsea to sign him.

Meanwhile, Hurson-Odoi just returned from a fruitless loan at Bayer Leverkusen, with the German side not interested in signing the player. The 22-year-old attacker failed to attract considerable interest as the summer window dragged on.

Fulham were keen on the attacker, but they were probably the only side making a serious effort to sign him. Marco Silva wanted him to add to his attack as he lost Manor Solomon and almost saw Willian leave on a free transfer, and viewed the 22-year-old attacker as a viable solution to his setup.

However, with the two clubs failing to find an agreement, the move has since collapsed, with Hudson-Odoi looking at the limited options. Now, Nottingham Forest have stepped up their efforts to close in on an agreement with Chelsea to sign the 22-year-old attacker.

As per Dharmesh Sheth, Forest are reportedly inches away from securing Hudson-Odoi, although the fee for the attacker remains under wraps. It could be a cut-price deal to help Chelsea by paying him high wages and allowing Steve Cooper to have a quality attacker for their season.

It’s a permanent transfer, considering Hudson-Odoi only has a year left on his deal at Chelsea. The Blues also held an interest in Forest’s Brennan Johnson, but this move for Hudson-Odoi are unconnected. The Blues might find a way to talk to Forest for the Welshman, but any move for him seems highly unlikely.

Cooper must now find a way to integrate Hudson-Odoi into his plans and possibly revive his career. With a young core of players at Palace, the 22-year-old attacker could hit the ground running and possibly bring a new era to his career.
