Kieran Tierney is all set to join Real Sociedad on loan with no buy option after the Spanish side agreed terms with Arsenal.

Fabrizio Romano has given a ‘Here We Go’ for the transfer of Kieran Tierney to Real Sociedad. The La Liga side have agreed on a loan deal without a buy option with Arsenal to take the out-of-favour 26-year-old left-back. Tierney wanted to play regularly in the coming season.

Arsenal will continue their efforts to offload some unwanted stars and have already started preparing for the departures of a few well-known faces. Some players continue to bloat Mikel Arteta’s squad, with Edu Gaspar intent on finding a solution before the transfer deadline.

For starters, they are close to agreeing on a deal with AS Monaco for Folarin Balogun. And now, Kieran Tierney is set for a departure. The Scottish left-back started the pre-season brightly. But Mikel Arteta did not select him as part of his squad for the opening two games of the Premier League.

Speculation had been rife since the start of the window as the out-of-favour 26-year-old left-back attracted plenty of Premier League interest. Those included Newcastle United, who have since signed Lewis Hall from Chelsea.

Some other clubs could have popped up in the last days of the window, and former club Celtic were also interested. However, Tierney has now chosen La Liga club Real Sociedad as his new destination as he gears up to leave Arsenal in the coming period.

Real Sociedad were in talks with Arsenal over a loan deal. And now, they may have found an agreement, as per Fabrizio Romano. The transfer will not include a buy option, although some factions of the Spanish media insist there is one.

Real Sociedad will also cover the 26-year-old entire salary, and medicals are being planned for the coming days. More details could get clearer once Tierney moves to Spain, where he will take a different career challenge. La Real are in the UEFA Champions League this season, which could give the left-back a chance to shine.

It may appear like a risky move from an Arsenal perspective, especially after the injury to Jurrien Timber. In any case, the Gunners seem well covered, but they are losing a player for whom they do not have an identical profile on the side.
