Manchester United might not loan out Facundo Pellistri

Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

Facundo Pellistri needs to play regularly at this stage of his career, and Manchester United have not been able to provide him with that platform. A report from TwenteInSite claims that the 21-year-old was supposed to join FC Twente on loan for the remainder of this season.

However, the Red Devils could now pull the plug on the deal after deciding to part ways with Mason Greenwood. The attacker, who was accused of abuse and domestic violence, will leave the Old Trafford outfit. So Manchester United cannot afford to weaken their squad any further. They are already lacking in quality and depth in the attacking department.

Pellistri could be a useful option for them for the remainder of the campaign. A move to the Eredivisie would have been ideal for the 21-year-old’s development, and he could have been a key player for FC Twente.

It remains to be seen whether Erik ten Hag is willing to give him ample first-team opportunities in the coming months. The Uruguayan international is highly rated at the club, and he has a big future ahead of him. He could develop into an important first-team player for Manchester United with the right guidance and coaching.

Players like Jadon Sancho and Antony have been largely underwhelming since joining the club, and Manchester United should look to give their youngsters the opportunity to prove themselves at the highest level.

Although the 21-year-old might not be ready to start for Manchester United every week, he could still be a very important option for them. Pellistri will add pace, flair and creativity in the final third. He could help turn games in Manchester United’s favour with effective cameos from the bench.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see where Greenwood ends up. There have been links with Italian and Saudi Arabian clubs in recent weeks. The disgraced Manchester United striker will look to get his career back on track. He was regarded as one of the brightest young talents in English football not so long ago, and it remains to be seen whether he can fulfil his potential in the coming seasons.
