Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais are interested in acquiring the services of 26-year-old Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

According to a report by Fichajes, Stade Rennais are keen on having Tanguy Ndombele in their ranks. The 26-year-old midfielder’s future has been uncertain for a while, and he could be on his way back to France in the near future.

Ndombele had an impressive spell at Lyon. The 26-year-old was putting in some impressive shifts for the French club, and he was on the radar of multiple clubs from across Europe when Tottenham acquired his services in a big-money move worth €62 million.

Since moving to the London club, the French international has not managed to replicate the kind of form he showcased at Lyon. He has been inconsistent and has failed to cement his spot in their first team. And he has failed to justify the €62 million outlay.

The 26-year-old spent the 2022/23 season out on loan at Napoli. The Partenopei had an heroic campaign as they lifted the Serie A. But Ndombele did not really have much say in it. He was involved in a total of 40 matches but was on the pitch for just over 1,200 minutes.

The French international is now back at Spurs. But he is unlikely to get the desired number of minutes under their new manager Ange Postecoglou. And, with his contract running out in the summer of 2025, his future is uncertain.

Ndombele’s lack of minutes at the London club has resulted in a lot of interest from clubs across Europe. And Rennes could be a possible destination for the 26-year-old. The Ligue 1 club are looking to bolster their midfield, and he is one of the names on their list.

Bruno Genesio is keen on having Ndombele, he believes the French international will bring a lot of experience as well as quality to the squad. While Rennes have not submitted an official bid yet, there is real interest in the Tottenham flop from their end. Meanwhile, the report suggests that Spurs will look for a big for the former Lyon midfielder.
