Marc-Andre ter Stegen has become a Barcelona legend since joining the club from Borussia Monchengladbach in July 2014. A product of the Bundesliga club’s youth division, he was one of the best young goalkeepers in the world at the time. And the German international has gone from strength to strength at the Catalan club in the last nine years.
The 31-year-old has started his tenth season with Barcelona strongly, keeping a clean sheet in the season-opening fixture against Getafe. And ter Stegen has a solid record of 158 shut-outs in 378 appearances thus far for Barcelona. But he has entered the final two years of his contract with the Blaugrana.
However, the veteran goalkeeper’s future is not uncertain, considering the reigning La Liga champions have made him one of the club captains. In addition, Barcelona and ter Stegen have been negotiating a new contract in the last few weeks. And the two parties have sealed an agreement over a long-term deal.
