Everton and West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing 22-year-old Portuguese winger Goncalo Borges from FC Porto this summer.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Goncalo Borges is becoming a popular figure in the market in the final days of the summer transfer window. Everton and West Ham United are keen on signing the FC Porto winger. And they might launch the offensive for him in the coming weeks.

Goncalo Borges represented the two biggest Portuguese clubs in his formative years. He began at SL Benfica, joining the Lisbon-based club in 2010. And after half a decade with the Eagles, he moved to FC Porto before rising through the ranks. But the 22-year-old winger has made gradual progress as a professional footballer.

The Portuguese attacker is yet to establish a foothold in the FC Porto first-team squad since making his debut in December 2021. And Borges has managed only 254 minutes of game time in 23 appearances thus far for the senior side. But the youngster has admirers outside Portugal, with Everton and West Ham United keen on signing him.

West Ham United seemed to be targeting a new striker in the final days of the summer transfer window. But David Moyes might install Jarrod Bowen as a centre-forward this season. So it makes sense for West Ham to pursue a winger. And the versatile Mohammed Kudus is their top target.

Recent reports have claimed that the Ajax forward is keen on joining West Ham this summer. But the Hammers are seemingly keeping their options open, considering Kudus is highly sought after. Goncalo Borges has thus emerged as a viable target, although they face stiff competition from Everton.

The Toffees are sweating over the long-term future of Demarai Gray. The former Leicester City winger is keen on joining Fulham after agreeing to personal terms with the Cottagers. So Everton might need a replacement, with the FC Porto forward emerging as an option worth considering.

The report claims that Everton and West Ham might launch the offensive in the final days of the transfer window. So the 22-year-old Portuguese winger might be their contingency option if moves for other players do not materialise.
