Liverpool looking to finalise Sofyan Amrabat deal

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, a target for Manchester United, this summer.

According to a report from AD.NL Liverpool are hoping to sign Sofyan Amrabat, who has been linked with Manchester United and Barcelona. The Reds need midfield reinforcements, and it is no surprise that they are looking to sign the 26-year-old this summer.

Amrabat had an impressive 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign, and he has done quite well for Italian outfit Fiorentina as well. He could be a key player for Liverpool in the coming seasons. The Reds recently missed out on Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo.

So they will have to bring in alternatives before the summer transfer window closes. Amrabat has thus emerged as a viable target. But recent reports had suggested that he did not want to join Liverpool amid his links with Manchester United.

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with the move to Manchester United in recent weeks. So it will be interesting to see if Liverpool can fend off the competition from their arch-rivals for the player.

The Moroccan midfield powerhouse will add defensive cover, aggression, physicality and work rate to the Liverpool midfield. In theory, he should be the ideal fit for Jurgen Klopp’s heavy-metal football.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are reportedly keeping tabs on the player as well. But the Catalan outfit are unlikely to be able to compete financially with the two Premier League clubs. Liverpool and Manchester United certainly have more resources compared to Barcelona, and they will be in a position of advantage to sign the player.

But Liverpool failed to secure UEFA Champions League qualification last season, and Manchester United and Barcelona could provide the player with the opportunity to showcase his qualities in the premier European competition. That could give them an edge in the transfer race. But the Reds are now looking to hijack Manchester United’s deal, hoping to finalise an agreement soon.

It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few days. Liverpool need midfield reinforcements, and Amrabat seems tailor-made for them. He could prove to be a quality acquisition if the Reds manage to secure his signature. Meanwhile, they are also on the cusp of signing Wataru Endo.
