Aston Villa are closing in on signing of Nicolo Zaniolo from Galatasaray after reaching an agreement with the Turkish club over a loan deal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa have already secured a verbal agreement on a €27 million package with Turkish club Galatasaray over a move for Nicolo Zaniolo. The former AS Roma attacker is set to join the Villans on a loan deal with a buy option.

Romano claims that the 24-year-old Italian international midfielder will undergo his medical with the West Midlands club on Wednesday. He has also agreed personal terms with the Premier League club. Meanwhile, the value of the package agreed by the two clubs is worth €27 million.

The versatile attacker is set to arrive in Birmingham tomorrow. And the option to buy the player at the end of his loan spell could become an obligation under certain conditions. Zaniolo is a technically-gifted attacking player who is versatile enough to operate as a winger as well as a midfielder. He will add creativity, vision and flair in the final third.

Aston Villa have had a disastrous start to their Premier League campaign, and they crashed to a heavy defeat against Newcastle United. They will look to bounce back strongly, and someone like Zaniolo will certainly improve them.

Aston Villa will be competing in Europe this season, and they need a quality squad to do well across multiple competitions. Emery has already brought in a number of impressive signings, and Zaniolo will be the latest addition to his roster.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past as well. But a move never materialise. He will be delighted to have secured a move to England, and it remains to be seen whether he can settle in quickly and make an immediate impact.

Villa were overly reliant on Ollie Watkins for goals and creativity last season. So the additions of Moussa Diaby and Zaniolo will certainly add more cutting edge in the final third. Aston Villa should look to push for Europa League qualification this season, and they will probably hope to win the UEFA Europa Conference League as well.

It remains to be seen whether the new signings can get their act together and hit the ground running for the West Midlands club. Meanwhile, Zaniolo is still relatively young and likely to improve further with coaching and experience. A top-class manager like Emery could get the best out of him in the coming seasons.

If the Italian international manages to impress at Villa Park, he could secure a move to a bigger club in the near future. He has previously been linked with clubs like Tottenham Hotspur. He was regarded as one of the finest Italian talents a few seasons ago but has had injury problems in recent years. But he will be looking to get over those issues and establish himself as a key player for Aston Villa now.
