Aston Villa will reportedly look to sign 31-year-old World Cup winner Marcos Acuna from Sevilla, with a part-exchange offer also possible.
According to Spanish outlet Vamos Mi Sevilla, Marcos Acuna is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The Villans are keen on signing a left-back in the ongoing transfer window. And they might consider offering Diego Carlos in a part-exchange deal. Meanwhile, Sevilla will demand around €15 million to part ways with the World Cup winner.
Marcos Acuna spent his formative years in his homeland, representing Don Bosco de Zabala and Ferro. But he rose to prominence during his stint with Racing Club before moving to Europe in July 2017. And after three years with the Portuguese outfit, he completed the transfer to Sevilla in September 2020.
Since then, the 31-year-old has been a regular for his club country. And the Argentine international featured prominently as La Albiceleste won the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Meanwhile, Acuna started and played 90 minutes in Sevilla’s season-opening La Liga fixture this past weekend. But the player’s future at the Spanish club is uncertain, with Aston Villa interested.
The Villans have been active in the market this summer, signing multiple top-notch players. And while their season-opening fixture ended in a 5-1 defeat to Newcastle United, players like Youri Tielemans, Moussa Diaby, and Pau Torres should improve them. In addition, Aston Villa will soon sign Nicolo Zaniolo on loan from Galatasaray.
Meanwhile, Monchi is seemingly using his contacts at his former club Sevilla to sign players this summer. And recent reports have linked Aston Villa with Gonzalo Montiel. But Montiel is not the only Sevilla defender on Aston Villa’s radar, with Marcos Acuna also being a top target for the Midlands club.
The 31-year-old might only be a short-term solution for Aston Villa, considering he is on the wrong side of 30. But amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Lucas Digne, the World Cup winner is a viable target. And Sevilla will demand €15 million to sell the player. Meanwhile, Diego Carlos might become the subject of a part-exchange deal involving his former teammate.

Carlos is a target for Sevilla this summer after a difficult debut season at Aston Villa. And his inclusion in a part-exchange deal will bring down the asking price of €15 million. But it will be interesting to see if Sevilla will insist on two separate deals or accept a part-exchange arrangement to part ways with the 31-year-old World Cup winner.
