Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks.

A report from Daily Mirror claims that Anthony Martial is now seeking showdown talks with Manchester United regarding his future at Old Trafford.

The 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford, and he is unlikely to be a regular starter for Erik ten Hag this season. Martial needs to move on in search of regular playing time, and he has been linked with a move to clubs like West Ham United.

The 27-year-old was expected to develop into a top-class forward when he joined the club from AS Monaco. But he has not been able to live up to the expectations because of persistent injury problems and inconsistency issues.

Martial is certainly good enough to be a quality Premier League striker, and he will need to join a club with continuity. The struggling Frenchman needs regular football and the trust of the manager. A move to West Ham could be ideal for him and the Hammers.

West Ham need to bring in a quality striker and Martial needs a platform to showcase his ability on a regular basis. Furthermore, the London club will be playing in the UEFA Europa League next season, and Martial will relish the opportunity to do well in Europe.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United are prepared to sanction his departure for a reasonable price. They have already invested a substantial amount of money in Denmark international striker Rasmus Hojlund. The talented young striker is likely to be the partner for Marcus Rashford in the attack this season.

Martial will have to settle for a bench role, and it makes sense for the French international to move on and get his career on track. It will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually. The 27-year-old still has a lot of time to improve and fulfil his potential in the coming seasons. A player of his quality will not want to warm the bench at Manchester United for the whole season.
