Crystal Palace are in talks with Sporting CP over a potential deal for the services of 19-year-old winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.

According to Record via SportWitness, Crystal Palace are keen on having Abdul Fatawu Issahaku in their ranks before the end of the transfer window. The Eagles are looking to bolster their attack and have their eyes set on the Ghana youth international.

Fatawu came through the ranks of Steadfast FC before joining Sporting CP in the summer of 2022. He joined their Under-23 team at first and in a few month’s time, he was promoted to their first team.

The teenage sensation has featured in a total of 12 matches for their first team and has bagged an assist. He has also been involved in 13 matches for their B team and has contributed towards three goals.

While his numbers are not exceptional, Fatawu has shown signs of the exceptional talent he has. The 19-year-old is a versatile player capable enough to play on either flank as well as a striker.

His contract with the Portuguese club runs until the summer of 2027 but there is a real possibility of leaving the club just over 12 months after joining them. The major factor that could lead to his departure is that their manager Rúben Amorim doesn’t have him in his plans for the 2023-24 season and has asked him to train with their B Team.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace is the most likely destination for the teenager. The Eagles are keen on adding a new winger into the mix. They have lost Wilfried Zaha in the ongoing window as a free agent and want to have enough depth to ensure they manage to cope with his absence.

Both clubs have been in talks over a potential deal. According to the report, Eagles’ co-owner John Textor has asked about the conditions needed to land the Ghana youth international.

Meanwhile, Sporting value him at around €15 million and they are looking for 20% from any future sales. With Michael Olise’s future also uncertain, the Eagles are in desperate need of a new winger and they might end up meeting the demands of the Portuguese club.
