Juan Foyth has reportedly told Villarreal that he wants to join Barcelona, although the agreement between the two clubs is missing.

According to Gerard Romero on Jijantes FC, Juan Foyth is the subject of interest from Barcelona. And the 25-year-old is keen on joining the Blaugrana in the ongoing transfer window. But the Catalan giants are no closer to securing an agreement with Villarreal for the services of the World Cup winner.

Juan Foyth has resurrected his stuttering career since joining Villarreal from Tottenham. The Argentine international had seen his progress stutter at the North London club slow down after failing to become a regular for them. Meanwhile, the Yellow Submarine signed him on an initial loan deal in October 2020 before completing a permanent transfer in July 2021.

The 25-year-old has been a mainstay at the back for Villarreal, establishing himself as one of the best full-backs in La Liga. He has turned out 100 times for the Spanish club, chipping in with three goals and five assists. Meanwhile, Foyth was a part of Argentina’s World Cup-winning squad in Qatar. And his progress has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Barcelona.

Joan Laporta revealed several months ago that Barcelona would sign a right-back in the summer transfer window. But they are no closer to securing the services of a player to bolster the problem position. That is not to say that the Catalan giants have not scouted right-backs, with Ivan Fresneda and Joao Cancelo among their targets.

Foyth is also a viable target for Barcelona. And the 25-year-old World Cup winner has been on their radar for a long time. But he has a hefty release clause in his contract, which has kept Barcelona at bay in the last two transfer windows. However, the reigning La Liga champions remain keen on signing.

The Argentine international has now handed Barcelona a boost, as he is keen on joining them. And he has told Villarreal that wants to move to the Catalan club in the ongoing transfer window. But the Spanish club’s asking price might be a stumbling block for Barcelona.
