West Ham United will reportedly look to hijack Inter Milan’s move for 21-year-old Serbian international Lazar Samardzic.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Lazar Samardzic is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers want to hijack Inter Milan’s deal for the Udinese midfielder. Meanwhile, the Serie A outfit will demand around £22 million to part ways with the 21-year-old this summer.

Lazar Samardzic has established himself as one of the best young midfielders in Serie A since joining Udinese. A native of Berlin, the Serbian international spent his formative years in his homeland before graduating from the Hertha BSC Academy. But he rose to prominence during a short stint with RB Leipzig.

The 21-year-old moved to Udinese in August 2021 and has been a regular for the Serie A outfit. Samardzic has turned out 63 times thus far for the Friulani while chipping in with seven goals and seven assists. But the youngster’s time at Udinese is coming to an end, with several clubs keen on signing him.

Recent reports have claimed that Inter Milan and Udinese have sealed an agreement for the player. But the Serie A giants are yet to agree to personal terms with Samardzic. And the situation has captured the attention of West Ham United, who will look to hijack Inter’s deal for the Serbian international.

The Hammers have finally kick-started their incoming business this summer by signing Edson Alvarez from Ajax. And while the Mexican international will likely replace Declan Rice at the London Stadium, Lucas Paqueta’s future has created the need for another midfield addition.

Recent reports have heavily linked the Brazilian international with Manchester City. And Paqueta’s departure will leave a huge void in West Ham’s midfield unit. Samardzic has thus emerged as a viable target for the London club. And West Ham should have the financial strength to afford to pay £22 million to secure his services.

But the Hammers face a race against time to sign Samardzic from Udinese. And Inter Milan should still be in the pole position to land the 21-year-old. So it will be interesting to see if West Ham can beat the Serie A giants to his signature.
