Brazilian teenage sensation Deivid Washington could snub Chelsea for French club AS Monaco despite having an agreement with the Blues.
According to Santi Aouna, Chelsea are keen on having Deivid Washington in their ranks. They have been pushing for his signature for a while now and already have a verbal agreement with the Brazilian club Santos. But, he could end up joining AS Monaco as they try to hijack the deal.
Washington has been on the radar of multiple top clubs from across Europe. The 18-year-old has gone from strength to strength over the past few years and is expected to be the next big thing to have come through the ranks at Santos.
The teenage sensation was promoted to their first team a few months back. He has featured in a total of 16 matches for their first team and despite being on the pitch for limited time he has managed to find the back of the net on two occasions.
His progress hasn’t gone unnoticed and there are quite a few clubs interested in him. Meanwhile, Chelsea are one of the clubs who have been making moves to sign him. The Blues have signed quite a few young players of late and they didn’t want to miss out on Washington who is a huge prospect for the future.
As a result, they have been pushing hard for his signatures. The London club have been in negotiations with the Brazilian club of late. And, according to Aouna, they have reached a full verbal agreement with Santos.
While they were closing in on his signatures, AS Monaco have entered the race before a deal could be signed. The French club have been trying to hijack the deal but they will need to improve their offer. While the teenage sensation prefers joining Monaco, their bid isn’t good enough at the moment.
The Blues are offering Santos more money and might still end up winning the race. However, if Monaco manages to match the bid put forward by Chelsea, the player could end up joining the French club.
