Chelsea are on the verge of completing another prospective signing by inching closer agreeing on a fee with Santos for Deivid Washington.

Fabrizio Romano broke the news about Chelsea pursuing another Brazilian youngster, Deivid Washington. The Blues are on the verge of agreeing to a €20 million fee, including add-ons, for the 18-year-old Brazilian wonderkid, who could then leave on loan.

Chelsea now have a stronghold in the South American market, especially in Brazil. Since the Todd Boehly-led takeover concluded, the Blues have signed several youngsters from the continent, and the moves are still ongoing.

They have made their efforts to sign prospective youngsters paying substantial fees. Angelo Gabriel arrived in the summer in a €15 million move from Santos. The young prospect might move to Strasbourg on loan in the coming days.

The French club, acquired by the same ownership group as Chelsea, BlueCo, are using the position to allow some players to join them. Another recent signing, Lesley Ugochukwu, will likely join Strasbourg on loan in the coming days, despite Chelsea paying a hefty sum for the former Rennes star.

Similarly, now they have another player in their sights who could come and leave immediately for the French team. Another Santos star Deivid Washington is on the verge of becoming a Chelsea player, with the Brazilian club expected to agree on a €20 million deal for the 18-year-old.

Chelsea have already made an offer with a €20 million package. Santos were reportedly demanding significantly more for the 18-year-old Brazilian wonderkid. Yet, Fabrizio Romano claims they will likely accept the current offer and allow Washington to join the Blues.

There is a clear path in Chelsea’s mind for Washington. They want him to join Strasbourg on loan for the upcoming season and get some valuable experience in European football under his belt. The move may sound productive for the two clubs. But the Blues may have unearthed another gem of a player.

They also had thought about letting Andrey Santos leave on loan. But the Brazilian youngster has impressed Mauricio Pochettino during pre-season. Given Chelsea’s lack of midfield options ahead of the opening weekend of the Premier League season, Santos will likely stay put and add to the depth.
